Attract and train the best and brightest

In the recent issue of Accounting Today (www.webcpa.com), Gary Boomer of Boomer Consulting wrote an article on how to attract and train the brightest. While he may have been talking to accountants, these same principles apply to medical practices as well……..so pay attention:

Document a strategic plan Without a plan, what do you tell prospective employees about your practice?

Know what you want Do you know what talent and skills your practice requires?

Adopt proven testing methods Too many practices fail to utilize human resource experts and tools when recruiting.

Invest in training and learning Training and learning is no longer a benefit, it's an expectation.

Train your managers Having competent managers who understand people is critical.

Provide the best technology The best employees expect the best tools.

Offer life balance Work/life balance issues are extremely important to today's workforce.
