Complicating the Physician Golden Years

Dr. Gary Leifer, one of 19 physicians with Kansas City Urology Care PA, worries about more than urinary streams. With 79 million baby boomers moving toward retirement, many of them physicians, Leifer is concerned about the inadequate stream of new doctors entering his and other specialties.

The challenge of replacing doctors during a worsening physician shortage, however, is only one of the issues now associated with an older practice member slowing down or hanging up his or her stethoscope altogether.
