Reminder – CMS confirms 4.6 percent SGR cut in 2007 unless Congress acts

Are you preparing for future cuts in your cash flow????????????

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) traditionally sends a letter to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) detailing the volume of services in Medicare under Part B, which covers physician and outpatient services. The letter describes service volume in previous years and indicates the expected physician update for the coming year. CMS' recent letter announced that physician services rose in volume and intensity by 7.5 percent in 2005. The letter details utilization trends and confirms that the sustainable growth rate (SGR), the formula that provides annual physician updates, is scheduled to be -4.6 percent in 2007. A cut of this magnitude means that the conversion factor would fall to $36.1542 in 2007 unless Congress intervenes through legislative action.

Read the entire CMS letter to MedPAC.

Write to your members of Congress to stop the cut in physician reimbursement.
