Be sure to be on the lookout for “deleted” postings within the medical billing system. This is one way an employee can cover his or her tracks when taking cash from a patient (ex. copays at the front desk). They often delete the charge completely (and say patient was a no-show for example) or they delete the copayment completely and replace it with some type of credit adjustment.
