Tips for supervising

These 10 Tips appeared in the August 2006 issue of the Journal of Accountancy; They apply to physician practices today just as well as to accounting firms:

  1. Hire carefully
  2. Establish workplace standards
  3. Provide training
  4. Recognize and reward high performers
  5. Weed out weak performers
  6. Invite employees’ input
  7. Communicate
  8. Deal with problems sooner rather than later
  9. Develop strong processes
  10. Treat employees consistently
