Analyze medical office staff to optimize workspace

Look at physician office employees differently when it comes to planning space and optimizing productivity. Try categorizing staffers according to three patient-flow categories:

  1. Hourly—Includes support staff whose production rates can be configured on a per-hour basis.
  2. Half-day—their work is converged on a half-day basis.
  3. Weekly—the daily flow of patients doesn’t depend on directly on these staffers. Billing staff and transcriptionist are usually in this category.

Further analyze staff by dividing them into two large categories: Those who have face-to-face patient contact and those who generally don’t. Patient-contact staffers need workstations along the patient flow route through the office.
