Beginning July 6th, your practice could experience Medicare claim rejection if your practice provider information isn’t up-to-date in CMS's Provider Enrollment Chain Ownership System (PECOS). You will also need to confirm within PECOS the status of providers who refer patients to your providers or order any covered item or test prior to July 6. If these providers are not in PECOS, your related claims will get rejected.
Before July 6th, sign into PECOS (https://pecos.cms.hhs.gov/pecos/login.do) on behalf of your providers, using their National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) login credentials. Verify the information in all the data fields. Make sure all data entered is correct and make sure there is a PECOS record for your referring physicians.
