Time to transition to NPIs--take appropriate precautions for compliance
The changeover from legacy numbers to national provider identifiers is expected to make organizations revamp the way that they submit electronic transactions. After May 23, 2007, health plans will no longer be able to rely on legacy numbers to assist with claims processing.
